Wadia hopes for 'Enders week in Pakistan

EastEnders star Nina Wadia hopes that the show's producers will consider a special week of episodes based in Pakistan.

The Bombay-born actress, who plays Walford's Zainab Masood, revealed that she would jump at the chance to explore her character and screen family's past by going back to their roots.

Speaking exclusively to DS, she said: "That would be an absolute dream come true. I don't know if EastEnders has that kind of budget! It would be great if we could take some other characters with us."

Zainab first appeared in Albert Square last July and has since been a slow-burner, along with the rest of her screen relatives; husband Masood (Nitin Ganatra) and son Tamwar (Himesh Patel). Her daughter Shabnam (Zahra Ahmadi), however, took the decision to quit the show last month in a bid to pursue other projects.

Of the character's slow-burning nature, Wadia continued: "It's great that it's been done in this slow manner. It makes characters a lot more three-dimensional when that happens, as opposed to when soaps have characters whose whole storyline comes out in their first two weeks. There's definitely more to come from the Masoods, I know that for sure."
