10m watch Eastenders' Tony drama

Nearly 10 million viewers tuned in to see EastEnders' controversial paedophile story reach a head.

The episode saw Bianca Jackson discover that her fiance Tony King had been been abusing her step-daughter Whitney.

A BBC spokeswoman said that 9.9 million people saw the show, an above-average figure.
Actor Chris Coghill, who plays Tony, told BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat: "I've had nothing but positive responses from people on the street.

"And it's a lot of people that recognise me - with the amount of people who watch EastEnders.
"The public response has been great and very supportive of the actual storyline as well, because it is a very important social issue."

Chris is going for a dramatic change of character by joining the cast of The Royal, to play an ambulance driver named Bobby, who he said "rescues little old ladies".
