Dot Gets Off Her Cottons

Dot may or may not be losing her marbles, but June Brown is planning to lose something altogether more surprising - her clothes

June Brown, who plays Dot Branning, has decided to take a break from Albert Square, in order to appear in the West End adaption of Calendar Girls. She will be performing at London's Noel Coward Theatre from 28 July to 17 October.

The 82-year-old will play Jessie in the true story of the enterprising Women’s Institute members who decided to strip off in 1999 for a charity calendar. The story made headlines across the world, and was turned into a film in 2003.

Looks like it will be a bit of an EastEnders reunion, as Anita Dobson who played Angie Watts, Jill Halfpenny who played Kate Mitchell and Jack Ryder who played Jamie Mitchell have also signed up to do the show.

June will definitely be returning to the Square once she finishes her short stint in the West End, so fear not – Dot will be back!
