Charlie Clements hopes for happy ending

Charlie Clements hopes his 'EastEnders' alter-ego will finally get married.

The 22-year-old actor who plays unlucky-in-love Bradley Branning in the BBC soap said viewers will find themselves gripped as they watch his character try, on a number of occasions, to propose to Stacey Slater played by Lacey Turner.

He said: "Bradley knows his relationship with Stacey is for keeps this time. They've been through so much together, and getting married again seems like the obvious step, it takes him a while to actually pop the question, though!"

Charlie who recently announced he is set to leave Albert Square after playing Bradley for four years - said his character finds a number of obstacles, namely Stacey's new best friend Becca, get in his way of popping the question.

He said: "Bradley's frustrated that he never gets any alone time with Stacey because Becca is always there. And things go from bad to worse as the week goes on, because the only time they do get together is at Archie Mitchell's funeral. Neither of them wants to be there but Bradley feels they need to go so as not to arouse suspicion."

Even when Bradley finally manages to get a 'yes' out of Stacey, Charlie hinted there may not be a happy ending after all as the couple still have Archie's death hanging over them.

Bradley has to tie the knot with Stacey soon however, as Charlie announced he is leaving the soap last November and will make his final appearances in coming weeks.
