Gaffney: I hope Peggy's the killer

EastEnders actor Dean Gaffney hopes Peggy Mitchell will turn out to be Archie Mitchell's killer.

The culprit will be revealed in a live EastEnders episode on Friday February 19, celebrating 25 years of the show.

Dean, who is back playing Robbie Jackson, said: "Personally, I'd like it to be Peggy Mitchell, I wouldn't want it to be Ronnie because I feel killing your father is quite a serious thing to do."

He went on: "I know he hasn't been much of a dad but you still have that bond however nasty he's been. But he's been a g*t to Peggy and I think it will be well deserved if it's her. Also Phil Mitchell because she's his mum. I don't think he has been nasty enough to anyone else for them to want to kill him."

The actor is back in EastEnders again this week for Bianca Jackson's wedding to Ricky Butcher, but won't be in the live episode.

Asked whether he's disappointed, Dean said: "It's a double-edged sword. There's that disappointment of not having that on my CV but there's also the relief of not having to learn lines for a live show that could turn out bad. It could go wrong, God willing it won't, but it's a nervous time."

The latest odds from William Hill put Sean Slater, who is no longer in the show, as the favourite to be the murderer at 4/7.

Ryan Malloy is second favourite at 11/2, and Jack Branning and Peggy both have odds of 9/1.
