Marquess tips Kirkwood for success

Hollyoaks new producer Paul Marquess has tipped Bryan Kirkwood for success as head honcho of EastEnders.

Paul took over the reins at the teen soap this year, while Bryan, himself a former Hollyoaks boss, has been installed as executive producer of the BBC One show.

Speaking to the Radio Times, Paul said: "I have high hopes for Bryan at EastEnders."

He went on: "Traditionally, that job was seen as a staging post on a BBC career 'Come and do EastEnders for a bit, darling!' but Bryan's appointment is an acknowledgement that the show is about the audience."

Bryan replaces Diederick Santer, who ran the Walford show between 2006 and 2010.
