Ex-EastEnder lands theatre gig

Ex-EastEnders actress Melissa Suffield has landed a theatre role.

The teenager, who was axed from the role of Lucy Beale earlier this year, will play Sheila in Olly's Prison.

It is part of a season of Edward Bond plays at the Cock Tavern theatre in Kilburn, London.

Melissa played wild child Lucy in Albert Square from 2002, but it emerged this year that the character is to be recast.

EastEnders bosses also confirmed that a new actor would be cast in the role of Phil Mitchell's son Ben, saying: "Sometimes a higher level of experience is needed as characters mature."

Code for: "we needed to butch him up."

Ben's going to return from "jail" a hardass lady's man, count on it.

I agree; Ben was too 'sweet', even with the Jordan storyline which landed him in custody.
You could never harden that particular actor up believably, so the next best thing, find a similar looking actor to shock 'em all back in the Square...believable?
Probably not, but it'll make for some good story lines and we'll soon forget the 'old' Ben....
