New actress plays EastEnder Lauren

EastEnders has recast the role of teenager Lauren Branning.

Jacqueline Jossa has taken over from Maddie Duggan as the cynical daughter of Max and Tanya.

She will return from summer camp in the US later this year and will be quick to prove she's now grown up.

A Walford insider said: "Though Lauren is tough on the outside, deep down she is a sucker for love and at times can be quite vulnerable.

"Lauren is one of those rare girls who go for personality over looks and wants nothing more than the right guy to sweep her off her feet. But she'll never let you know that!"

Jacqueline said: "I was so excited when I got the call to say I'd got the part in EastEnders. I've always been a massive fan of the show and it's a dream come true. The characters of Lauren Branning will be really fun to play and there are some exciting things coming up."

Bryan Kirkwood, executive producer of EastEnders, said: "Maddie Duggan did a great job of playing the young Lauren Branning, and we wish her the very best of luck for the future. I'm delighted to welcome Jacqueline Jossa to Albert Square.

"Jacqueline's portrayal of Lauren has all the classic Branning qualities of toughness, cynicism and sensitivity. Jacqueline is set to be at the heart of Walford drama for some time to come."

New actors are also set to play the roles of Albert Square youngsters Lucy Beale and Ben Mitchell.

Can someone please tell me. Is the eastenders set moving to pinewood studios. And if this is true they will have to make a brand new set wouldn't they. All for hd tv. If this is the case they wouldn't just knock the old set down would they. They could keep it. And charge us to get in there. It's about time the bbc gave us something back in return for our licence fee.

@PK Eastenders won't be moving anywhere for at least 4 more years...after discussing a poss move to Pinewood for about 3 yrs. they've signed a contract that will keep them at Elstree, Herts. for that term, but they'll probably be upgrading the sets as they're falling into disrepair...hope this helps!
Great... Another depressing drama school brat who looks like they've been sucking lemons.

You didn't know?
They keep a bowl of cut Lemons in the room where auditions for E.E. are held... you have to suck to be an E.E. actor!

Having said that, I have to say I'm really lovin' "auntie Kim" who, I guess is now just "Kim" since Chelsea and Libby are gone...

Now She is worth paying attention to; she's fun and lively, something the Square desperately needs...
