E20 picks up Webby drama award

EastEnders spin-off E20 has won a prestigious Webby award, seeing off stiff competition to take the top spot in the Drama section of the Online Film & Video category.

The drama, which premiered on the BBC website in January 2010, introduced Fatboy, Mercy and Zsa Zsa to the world, and gave new writers, actors and crew members a chance to gain some valuable experience.

"E20 was created to champion new voices and new talent in a new format; and in so doing take EastEnders into the web-based world," said John York, Controller, BBC Drama Production and New Talent and Executive Producer of E20.

"To win such a prestigious award is a huge honour for all the team - and proof that the EastEnders brand is as brave and innovatory as it was when it first started, a quarter of a century ago."

E20 is set to return for a third series later this year; series one and two are currently available online at the programme's website.
